Difference Between Emergency Vets and Animal Hospitals

There are many choices to choose from when you need to get help for your injured or sick pet. Your regular veterinarian clinic might be able to help you if your pet is sick or injured. For extreme cases they might refer you to an emergency veterinarian or an animal hospital. The difference between the two is that most animal hospitals are staffed 24/7. Your regular veterinarian could staff their own ER vet but usually they are not there 24/7.

If your pet, whether your dog or cat was hit by a car and you need emergent care, you might be better off calling your nearest animal hospital. That way you know you will get care as quickly as possible. Just make sure you know how far your local animal hospital is and make sure they are open or staffed 24/7. It is always best to give them a call. If they cannot take you they will refer you to another emergency vet near Leesburg or possibly to a nearby city that has more resources.
